Meet the New GM of Boise Co-op

Kristy Bowers Joined Staff in June 2017

The Board of Directors is excited to announce that a new General Manager has been hired for Boise Co-op! Kristy Bowers began her new role in June and is quickly integrating into our culture.  She comes to us from the Puget Sound area in Washington – after spending nearly 17 years working for Fred Meyer.

Kristy also holds a master’s degree in teaching. This combined with her grocery experience offers a unique perspective and approach to her work. She has a strong belief in teaching and empowering the staff to take care of the customer. In addition, her passion for education is a foundation for business etiquette and customer engagement.

In Kristy’s role as general manager she is responsible for managing our community enterprise that supplies healthy food, goods, and services. A few of her responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring operational excellence by providing a variety of healthy, high-quality, and locally produced foods/goods
  • Providing superb customer service from well-trained, educated and motivated employees under strong governance
  •  Being supportive of a thriving, ethical, sustainable, and economically sound enterprise for our member/owners, employees, stakeholders, and local connections.

Please join us in welcoming Kristy to the Boise Co-op!

Here are some words from Kristy:

Hello all, I am very excited to be a part of the Boise Co-op team, and I want to take a minute to introduce myself.  Up until now, I have always lived in the Puget Sound Area in Washington.  I am looking forward to learning more about the Treasure Valley Community and meeting some great new people, especially our Co-Owners.  Before joining the Co-op, I was a Store Director for Fred Meyer.  I also lead a special project for the district on building customer loyalty.  One of the key drivers for me in joining the Co-op team is the focus on people and community.  To be a part of a smaller organization dedicated to people, the community, and delivering high quality local products fills a void that was missing in a large corporation.

I look forward to meeting our members in both the North End and at the Village, and I look forward to being your neighbor.  My husband Jason and I will soon be settled into our new home in Kuna.  Having spent most of my life in small towns, Kuna has that small town feel I have come to enjoy.

Thank you for being a part of the Boise Co-op, and I'll see you soon.

~Kristy
