Monadnock Food Co-op Farm Fund:

Echo Farm Puddings

The Hodge Family of Echo Farm Puddings produces premium puddings on their 70 cow dairy farm in Hinsdale, NH. Most of their puddings are named after a favorite bovine. For instance, Miracle’s Chocolate Pudding is named after Miracle, a cow born seven weeks premature who grew into a strong, healthy cow with a zest for life.

Courtney Hodge oversaw pudding production and knew it was time to replace their 20-year-old packaging machine. The Farm Fund award helped her finance a more reliable, efficient machine that will help increase sales of their 16 oz. line of puddings, as well as add larger containers for food service kitchens. She expects sales to increase by 10-20%.

The Farm Fund program, now in its second year, empowers local farmers to grow their businesses in ways that feel sustainable and right to them. It also helps the co-op broaden its offerings of locally grown, raised, and made foods —that means more local food for you, your family, and our community.

“We feel well positioned for growth as we enter 2019 and this would not have been possible without the contribution from the MFC Farm Fund. Thank you again from the entire ‘herd’ at Echo Farm Puddings.”
