You're in the Expansion Zone when: Every possible inch of sales floor space is filled, and even the ceiling has hanging baskets of product. It is amazing that you can move in your back room, let alone process orders. New products are coming out that your customers would buy if you could stock them, yet your customer count is climbing.

The National Cooperative Grocers Association board of directors met recently to build a framework and long-term vision for the organization, as we move into our second full year of operation in 2001. Using the principles of policy governance, the NCGA board crafted some draft "Ends statements" to define what they would like the organization to accomplish in coming years.

In March 2002, hundreds of thousands of co-op consumers will receive a full-color flyer filled with dozens of product specials negotiated through the national expansion of CAP, the Co-op Advantage Program. CAP is a branded product promotional program originally developed in the Midwest and Twin Cities and now being utilized by most National Cooperative Grocers Association (NCGA) member stores.
