The Portland Food Co-op is hiring for a Point of Sale (POS) Coordinator.

The Point of Sale (POS) Coordinator oversees all aspects of our pricing and product database by maintaining accurate and up-to-date price files, managing specials and promotions, generating reports, performing system upgrades and overseeing system and device maintenance. This is a fast paced retail environment requiring the ability work well with others and manage multiple projects and demands. Evening and weekend hours are required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Manages the POS system, ensuring accurate price records for all items in store.
  • Enters new products, deletes discontinued items and enters price changes into inventory records.
  • Ensures that sales and promotions work correctly and on time.
  • Generates reports on product movement for buyers and managers as requested.
  • Trains appropriate staff in use of system, monitors their access for accuracy and competency; delegates tasks as needed.
  • Performs POS system upgrades and oversees hardware maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Provides general customer assistance as needed.
  • Participates in quarterly inventory counts which take place outside of regular hours.
  • Serves as the store Opener / Closer as requested.

Experience and Skill Requirements:

  • At least two years of related work experience, such as database management, POS systems, retail pricing, etc. required.
  • Experience in a retail environment.
  • Experience overseeing implementation of a system and giving instruction and directions.
  • Proficient computer skills, specifically Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and grow to meet changing job requirements.
