Nestled against the western slope of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range, Quincy is the largest community in Plumas County, with a population of almost 6,000 people. It is located midway between Oroville and Reno on State Route 70, at the top of the Feather River Canyon. Portola, California has a population of approximately 2,000 people, and is located approximately 35 miles east of Quincy on State Route 70.

Quincy’s Feather River College is one of the few community colleges in California that offers a Bachelor's Degree program.  Plumas County has a rich, longtime cultural tradition of arts and performances, including a thriving county fair, farmers’ markets, and several popular music festivals.

Plumas County visitors and locals enjoy first-class mountain biking, hiking, rafting, kayaking, boating, fishing and other recreational opportunities.  Cross-country skiing and snowmobiling are popular winter sports.

Portola California is near the beautiful Lakes Basin Recreation Area and Graeagle, California, which offers several championship golf courses, restaurants, and craft breweries.
