Reports to: General Manager

Position Summary:

The Strategic Initiative Manager develops, oversees and helps to implement programs and projects that support our co-op vision and short- and long-term plans. They support our existing business units and position us to respond rapidly to strategic opportunities in our trade area, while building external relationships that support our success.

Specific areas of accountability include: strategic initiative, project planning and leadership, project management, operations, participating in financial planning, business development and Mississippi Market's senior leadership team (SALT).

This role requires strategic thinking, an orientation towards results, strong communication, collaboration, problem solving, intercultural competence, and multi-tasking / prioritization skills as well as customer service, adaptability, initiative, self-awareness, resiliency, judgment, and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years' experience managing complex projects or initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, developing and implementing systems, procedures and policies
  • Demonstrated experience delivering results to meet organizational objectives
  • Demonstrated capacity for strong decision making, including ability to organize, prioritize, and delegate multiple, at times competing, demands
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with managers, staff, members, and vendors
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior retail management experience with extensive knowledge of store operations
  • Familiarity with natural foods products and industry strongly preferred
  • Multilingual
